Close Enough to Hear God Breathe by Greg Paul is an inspiring story of stories. With each chapter, Paul presents a new story, some perhaps more difficult to share than others, of his own life. He then shares how these narratives of “little stories” have given him glimpses into the great Story; the story of God. In short, Paul realizes all along that God has been close. His breath can be felt. And, that this is the sort of divine intimacy we were created for.

Story.

That word carries so much weight; so much significance. Especially so in this season in which I currently find myself. To even say the word leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Fortunately, this word is being redeemed for me. Even more so after reading this book.

Although an easy read, Close Enough to Hear God Breathe proved to be a beautiful reminder that our stories are important; whether your story is one of blessing or tragedy. For God can be found in each.

We’re often guilty of looking for God in the bigger stories of our lives. Generally, those stories which chronicle life changing experiences. However, Paul reminds the reader that God is close even in the mundane; those stories we’d never think to share because they wouldn’t be as interesting to the listeners.

For those of us who too often forget the intimacy God longs to have with us, this book is for you.
